Cynthia pulls the entire look of the kitchen in this beach house together with the bar stools. The Vivian Counter Stools make a great addition.

Inspiration

Cynthia gets her inspiration from her surroundings––the natural landscape, colors and texture from the beach and ocean, gardens, all of the great wildlife I see every day. “Before I became an interior designer, I was a fine artist and made large scale paintings,” she says. “So, when I imagine a space, I like to create a mood and an interesting composition of colors and textures. I think it’s as important to make a space look as beautiful as it is to evoke emotion.”

The Clay Chandelier and Modena Bench make a statement in this foyer that sets the tone for the entire house.

Designing with Gabby

When it comes to making a first impression in a room, Cynthia always starts by choosing the lighting. It sets the mood for the entire space. And that’s one of the many reasons why she likes Gabby so much for the great lighting. “My favorite Gabby piece is the Watson Chair. It’s an amazing statement piece and has such an interesting and eclectic style,” she says. “The Clay chandelier is perfection. It has the perfect balance between polished elegance and rustic charm.”   In addition, Cynthia thinks that the Modena bench makes a wonderful piece for an entry or a small nook. She loves the rustic detailing in combination with the linen cushions.

“I think the Watson Chair from Gabby MAKES this office space,” says Cynthia.

Her Favorite Things

Besides great design, Cynthia shared with us a few of her favorite things. “I couldn’t live without lemon juice in my water, my ipad, Beautycounter lip conditioner (calendula),” she says. “And also my fireplace on cool mornings and evenings, a great kitchen to cook in and, of course, my husband and three children.”
