Design is not only about the aesthetic. It is about how we live. And never has it been more about the flexibility in how we live than it is today. Our entertaining style has changed; therefore, we cannot afford to waste precious square footage and we want to feel comfortable in our spaces. Which is why the tiny table trend, also known as cocktail tables, is hot in the design industry!

As long as they can hold a cocktail glass (or water), these tables add function and style to your space. And, not only are they chic and stylish, they are perfect for challenging spaces where you might not have enough room for a full-sized table. Kai-ning Huang, Product Designer for Gabby, talks more about how Gabby has incorporated this trend in our latest designs.

“The trend for our accent tables now are ones that are designed for multi-purpose, they are designed to be used individually as a side table or used together to form a coffee table. For example, our new table Sibyl coffee table, is formed by multiple smaller side tables,” says Kai-ning. “Customers can order them separately and configure them however they like to fit their space. As for our other popular pieces, Arthur end table and Lucinda bunching table.”
Serving many purposes, tiny tables can add plenty of personality without taking up too much space in a room. Not only can you layer multiple drink tables, but you can also sprinkle them freely throughout the house wherever a person might need to put something down. They come in many shapes and designs, but the more sculptural, the better. For example, Gabby’s Floyd Side Table pictured below is the perfect example of a table that is small in size, but large in character, adding a fun element to a space.

A handsome, yet elegant acrylic drink table can be used next to a pair of club chairs or in a bar area. Gabby’s Lexi Drinking Table, pictured above, combines acrylic and a white marble metal base to create a modern design with a circular concept. Completed with a champagne gold finish, this accent table is a unique addition to any living room or kitchen space with transitional appeal. For convenience, the finial ring at the top acts as a handle.
When designing with tiny tables, look at them as an opportunity to bring in unique materials to your space. A few of Gabby’s favorite materials to work with include vellum, rattan, bone, horn, faux shagreen, and reclaimed wood.
