Oscar Chest

Each High Point Market the Gabby designers are driven to create high-quality pieces using the materials that our customers fell in love with at the previous market. “The spring market was flooded with reclaimed wood and a casual and relaxed feel, and products like the Arthur and August tables were extremely popular,” says Gabby Designer Hillary Park. “We’ve gone back and used reclaimed wood in a cool, new form.”

Reclaimed Wood and Resin

Since then Gabby has expanded reclaimed wood into case goods, such as larger occasional tables and mixed it with different materials, mostly metal. “From a design perspective, people gravitate towards reclaimed wood because it’s so friendly, you don’t have to worry about it getting damaged and it has its own natural characteristics,” says Hillary. “It blends with a lot of different styles.” Gabby is also introducing a new resin side table with a wood grain finish that’s in keeping to the organic, natural trend in organic shapes that add softness to a space.

Acrylic

Another hot trend for Gabby this year has been acrylic. Gabby started putting this unique material on seating pieces and you’ll see it expanded onto more frames that are dining height. “We’re introducing some backless bar and counter stools this year,” says Gabby Designer Kai-ning Huang. “We also have some side tables in acrylic, but the seating has been extremely popular.”

The nice thing about acrylic stools is that they don’t take away from the scene. Designers like placing them in beautiful architectural kitchens because they don’t want to take away from the look of the home. And, they’re great for the kitchen because they’re so easy to clean.

Larger Looks and Dual Purpose

Gabby is also introducing larger case goods this year. These great scale items come in some really nice new finishes that we haven’t had in awhile like lighter and gray undertone finishes that will fit well with the Gabby eclectic look. At the request of our showroom designer, we are introducing some larger scaled coffee tables.

The Gabby designers also created some dual-purposed pieces this season. There are some console tables that flip open into larger sizes so they can either float behind a sofa or be pulled out to use as a dining table when additional seating is needed. These charming tables are only about 17 or 18 inches wide and open to about 34 inches so they’re perfect for entertaining.

Mirrors

Gabby designers are particularly excited about the new mirrors this season made using antique black mirror. This beautiful, high-quality material adds a new, unique dimension to the mirrors. It’s a transitional take on mirrors that’s moody and reminiscent of something that’s old.

Upholstery

The upholstery line this season contains more motion pieces. There are more occasional, swivel and barrel back chairs. There’s also a nice new line of cocktail ottomans, some as large as 48-inch squares that can serve as coffee tables.

Lighting

Between table, floor lamps and chandeliers, Gabby will introduce 40 new pieces at High Point this season. The new glass lamps for this market will have cool textures, cut glass and cast glass with a variety of finishes to it. The look of the new collection is very reflective and metallic. One of the most popular materials is Alabaster.

“We’re also throwing in pops of color,” says Gabby Designer Jill Harlan. “It’s something our customers are asking for.” Customers also loved the Krista lamp so Gabby is introducing two new styles similar to it with an interesting etched line work on it. In terms of lamp shades, they’re in line with most of Gabby’s more recent introductions of more neutral light shades with texture to them.

Some other new looks include a rose quartz lamp with a night light inside so it glows, a hotel-inspired lamp with two lights inside and an acrylic base, and a lamp based on the Nina side table. Brass is incorporated into several lamps with the gold marble paired with an antique brass and a clear crystal base lamp with antique brass.

When it comes to chandeliers, Gabby is incorporating the Alabaster into a pendant and creating beaded chandeliers from genuine natural stone beading. They’re also continuing the mother of pearl natural shell.
