Over 75,000 designers, retailers and editors joined together at High Point Furniture Market, also known as the largest furniture market in the world, April 13-18 in search of inspiration and the latest trends and finds the industry has to offer.
With the first High Point Furniture Market for 2018 behind us, the Gabby team looks back at a few market highlights and top design trends showcased this market season.
High Point Showroom
The Gabby showroom did not disappoint this year as our creative team put together a beautiful showroom design filled with over 60 new product introductions and 24 new fabrics reflecting sophistication and style. “Our merchandising and product development teams always strive to present an eclectic assortment of new products in a unique setting,” says President William White. “For our team, that is what market is all about – t0 create a compelling space filled with unique products that resonate with our customers.”

Style Spotters
Several High Point Furniture Market Style Spotters, who are leaders in the home décor industry, stopped by the Gabby showroom to check out the latest trends in our new product introductions.
New Gabby Jane Chest
The Jane chest, a major market hit, was spotted by Bria Hammel of Bria Hammel Interiors. “One of our favorite trends at market this Spring was seeing color being introduced onto furniture,” said Bria Hammel. “We loved how this chest paired soft blue and natural rattan for the prettiest combination!”
Mary Douglas Drysdale and her dog, Clifford, made a show stopping stroll into the Gabby showroom. Mary Douglas style spotted our new Leona dresser, a beautiful full-sized dresser- the perfect bedroom match. “Spotting the Leona Chest at Gabby was a stop and remember moment. As soon as I saw it, I connected,” said Mary Douglas. “The chest is well articulated, perfectly proportioned, and beautifully colored. Frankly, I liked everything about it: scale, dimension, and finish. It is a beautiful piece; one that would work in a done to the 9s Manhattan apartment or a suburban center hall colonial. It is that good.”

Style and Home Editors
Teams from Veranda, House Beautiful, Traditional Home, and many more all stopped by to visit the Gabby and Wendy Jane by Gabby showrooms.
When walking between the two showrooms, editors were able to get a first look at the new Wendy Jane by Gabby pillow line. “What I love about Wendy Jane is that there really has been a lull in the market for these beautiful pillows designed for the outdoor area,” says Clara Haneberg, Traditional Home Associate Style Editor. “These really hit the sweet spot as they truly will elevate any interior or exterior space.”
“Whether it is blush pink, or this yummy green color that we are seeing, or dark blue, indigo blue, the Gabby showroom had it all,” says Krissa Rossbund, Traditional Home Senior Style Editor. “All seem to be the masculine version of every color value, a trend we are seeing this High Point Market.”

Jennifer Condon, Senior Market Editor with Heart Design Group, instantly spotted the Lena desk console. She loved the intricate details of the piece, as the top is crafted with a beautiful natural cork material, a new material for Gabby.

Each evening, Gabby invited guests to “escape” with our signature frozen rose, wine, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Guests enjoyed live music and taking “shoe selfies” with our story of your shoes, giant floor sticker.
